30. May 2016

The ninth annual conferral of the GreenTec Awards took place yesterday evening, with Gmund Paper serving as official partner for the fourth time. Approximately 1,000 celebrities and guests gathered in Munich to commend a total of nineteen companies and specific achievements from throughout Europe that prioritize ecological sustainability to reduce the burden on the environment and natural resources while simultaneously avoiding or reducing the production of toxins. The focal points are efficiency, technology and ecology.

With its longstanding dedication to the environment, Gmund Paper has played a pioneering role in the paper industry. In 2007, Gmund drafted the Gmund Environmental Charta, in which Gmund Paper voluntary committed itself to upholding strict regulations: an ozone-based water-cleansing facility reduces water consumption by approximately 70%, and up to 75% of the energy needed for paper production is generated onsite from water, steam and solar sources.

Marco Voigt, one of the two initiators of the GreenTec Awards, was again very satisfied this year: "The GreenTec Awards were a complete success this year. With innovative projects, prominent supporters of our idea and a veritable ‘Who’s Who’ from the environmental industry, the awards show how important these themes have become for every individual’s daily life. And they also confirm that our prizewinners and presenters have found precisely the right solutions."
