An atypical pair

The complementary colours yellow and violet

Yellow has one strong counter partner: violet. When this atypical pairing appears in unison, they're bound to cause a stir, because each of them emphasizes the other. If you aim to avoid the impression of gaudiness when furnishing a room or choosing what to wear, then preferably resort only to small individual items, which have the capability of stirring up the indistinct monotony: A vase in violet with yellow marigold blossoms is a flash of colour that won’t leave an unruly impression.
