The Blue Soda Siphon by Urs Widmer

A reading suggestion for long train journeys

The narrator steps onto a train headed to his hometown Basel, only to find himself in the past and in his youth. At his parents' house, everything has remained unchanged – even the soda siphon is still stood sparkling next to his father's alcoholic beverages. The parents do not recognise this strange man who has turned up, they are missing their young son. A passage through time and images is underway.
