Life Ball and Gmund

The perfect papers for an opulent outfit

The Life Ball, which takes place each year in Vienna's city hall, is one of the world's biggest AIDS charity events. The goal is provide an unconventional way to help people affected by the AIDS virus and to overcome the taboo associated with HIV/AIDS. Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Anna Netrebko, Leona Lewis and Ricky Martin, who volunteered to support the Life Ball pro bono, were among the VIP guests who came to the Austrian capital to attend this year's ball.

The Style Bible at www.stylebible.org provided appropriate inspirations to spark the guests' imagination for creating the right outfits to suit the motto of this year’s Life Ball: "The Garden of Earthly Delights". Pleasure and lust as motivating urges of humankind were visually brought to life in the Style Bible, which sparked creativity for appropriate outfits to clothe the Life Ball's guests.

Eight motifs from the Style Bible, photographed by Austria's top photographer Inge Prader, were selected and printed as the first set of Life Ball limited-edition postcards. These cards were offset printed on Gmund Cotton, a 100%-cotton paper with a wonderful feel that goes ideally well with the lush fabrics of the guests' lavish outfits. The postcards were given as gifts to the participants in the "First Ladies Luncheon", an exclusive event at Belvedere Palace on the Life Ball weekend, to which leading representatives from the worlds of politics, business, art and culture were invited. With motifs for spring, summer, autumn and winter, these postcards convey the Life Ball's visual message throughout the year and inspire their owners to send uniquely special handwritten greetings to their friends.

About the 2014 Life Ball

Vienna's city hall was lustily and festively decorated on 31 May 2014, when the Life Ball celebrated its 22nd year with a gala evening dedicated to the theme of "The Garden of Earthly Delights". As a unifying element that connects people with one another, pleasure in all its diversity was shown, celebrated and brought to life in imaginatively staged gardens, worlds of insects and floral settings. The Life Ball's twin goals – to raise funds to finance the fight against HIV/AIDS and to raise a flag of solidarity in this ongoing struggle – were pursued in accord with this year's slogan: "Love is a bloom growing anywhere". More information about the Life Ball is available at www.lifeball.org.
