Red and green attract each other

So this is how complimentary colours work

According to the colour wheel of Johannes Itten, complementary colours are positioned opposite to one another. They complement each other perfectly and, at the same time, are in strong contrast. When two contrasting colours are mixed together, they neutralise to a greyish black. Every hue has exactly one harmoniser – complementary colour. The clearer the colour pair, the more the complementary contrast performs. Prominent complementary pairs are red-green, yellow-violet and blue-orange.
