Suntan or aristocratic pallor?

The elegant paleness is back

Whilst in the olden days an aristocratic pallor was an ideal of beauty reserved only for the high society, coincidentally in the beginning of the 20th century, with a suntanned skin, one might have been classified as a peasant. With general prosperity and newly found travel opportunities, the suntanned complexion was gradually redefined as fashionable and chic.

In Asia, pale skin is one of the ultimate aesthetic ideals – a trend that is gradually catching on all over the world these days. It is common knowledge that overexposure to the sun is harmful. Many celebrities present themselves with a snow-white complexion and at times even without make-up.
