“The folded box will never disappear”

Gmund Paper welcomes Kurz Folien at the Drupa trade fair

“The folded box will never disappear,” affirms Walter Kurz, chairman of the Leonhard Kurz Stiftung & Co. KG, when he discusses trends and visions with Florian Kohler. Alongside the graphic foil decoration of printed materials, Kruz also pursues new paths. The world’s leading company for heat-embossed and coating technologies employs 4,500 people and offers “printed touch panels.” These communications carriers with interactive functions are so thin that they can hardly be felt at all. And they’re protected by holograms that absolutely cannot be copied.

“One simply has to look beyond the horizon and never stand still,” Kurz says. “Individualization is a big topic nowadays. Packaging with various names, e.g. for Nutella, or variously colored packaging with exciting surface effects are strongly en vogue right now,” Kurz explains. He’s very impressed with the intensively colored natural papers in the new Gmund Colors system. “We can use these papers with foil printing to create exciting packaging solutions that boost revenues at the point of sale,” Kurz adds.

Florian Kohler summarizes: “260,000 visitors from 188 countries, including more than 3,000 guests at Gmund’s stand. This was a very successful Drupa for us. The printing industry is again on an upward trajectory. We welcomed many interested people from Europe and elsewhere at our stand. We made several big sales at the fair and we were pleased by the upbeat mood.”
